The Day I Stopped Caring

That day I’ll never forget

The day I got what was coming to me

When I broke out of the net

Of life’s insanities

It’s true to say that I don’t care

You can knock me down but you can’t kill me

Anaemic words so pale

But truth can set me free

This time it’s burnt me out

And the gaping wound has bled itself dry

There is no question of doubt

After many such hurtful a lie

All the incidents of the past

They mean nothing now

From me to you this is the last

Before I take my vow

An empty past that I disown

Stronger than all I stand on my own

The day I ceased to care

It’s true life’s not fair

Time just passes us by
