“Cold Blooded Innocence” Redux
2007 saw the formation of Tempest Eye Records, The Masked
Musicians own record label and more crucially the label signing a distribution
deal with leading US online music distributor ‘The Orchard’.
On May 21st 2007 ‘Three Year Headache’ was
released as the lead single from the ‘1.618’ album making its mark as the first
of a string of releases from the newly formed label. ‘Three Year Headache’ along with the singles ‘Stay Dangerous’ and ‘Perfectionist Being’ clocked up
multiple spins on the radio in L.A., New York, Austria & France, in some
cases going on rotation for a much as 7 weeks at a time. ‘1.618’ was released on August 13th
2007 gaining a featured placement in eMusic’s store on the week of its release.
Late 2007/early 2008 saw what some might consider a step
backwards. Instead of preparing the way
for album number 3, The Masked Musician went back to re-record some of the
songs from ‘Cold Blooded Innocence’. He
states: “I really wanted to go back to some of those songs, because I wasn’t
able to get the best out of them at the time due to both production and
performance constraints. This was a
chance to give those songs some justice and give them to wider audience than
they had first time around”. 8 of the
songs were chosen to be re-recorded and 4 others were re-mastered to make the ‘redux’
version of ‘Cold Blooded Innocence’.
The new version of Cold Blooded Innocence is due to be
released later on in 2008.
